Perhaps you are registering for an SSS online account and you are unsure of the PIN code associated with your UMID card. So, what exactly is the UMID PIN code, and how do you go about obtaining it?
The Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) is a government-issued identification card that is used to identify members of the Social Security System (SSS) and other government organizations. The UMID card contains the member’s personal information, such as his or her name, address, and date of birth, as well as the member’s signature and a photograph taken from the front of the card. The UMID card also contains the cardholder’s Common Reference Number (CRN), which serves as both an identification number and a reference number.
Some SSS members have inquired about the PIN code for the UMID card and where they can find out where to get it. It is important to note that the UMID PIN code is not found on the UMID card itself, but rather is selected by the SSS member when the card is activated at an SSS Self-Service Express Terminal (SET).
In the Social Security System (SSS), the Self-Service Express Terminal (also known as the SSS Information Terminal) is an automated machine or kiosk that allows members to inquire about their contributions and loan records, verify the status of their loans and benefits, inquire about their eligibility for loans and benefits, and submit a maternity notification. Members can also use the terminal to browse the SSS website and provide feedback to the organization.

SSS Self-Service Express Terminals are available for members to use to activate their UMID cards and create a 6-digit PIN code for use as an additional form of identity verification. Every time you use the terminal to make inquiries or conduct transactions, the PIN code will be required to be entered. In the event that you do not wish to use a PIN code, you can use fingerprint verification instead.
